So.......I have a new Alexism!  Yesterday, Alex came home from school and announced that in gym class he had to dance with a girl!  He was mortified!  I laughed and told him it was better than dancing with a boy.  He said he was learning square dancing and he didn't want to be dancing with any girls.  Initially, I just shrugged this off as funny and we went about our business. 

Later in the evening, I listened to our messages on our answering machine and one of them was from Alex's gym teacher.  She wanted to talk to me because Alex told her he wasn't allowed to dance with girls and she wondered if we could work something out so he could make it through this section on square dancing!  LOL - Marshall and I were CRACKING UP! 

So we asked Alex what was going on and he said he had heard us talking about the dances that go on at the middle school.  We had told Ryan he couldn't attend Activity Night because of the "dirty dancing" that goes on and that the boys and girls were rubbing their body parts together and they shouldn't do that! 

If you're not laughing out loud by now....it gets better!  Alex was very concerned because they had to be arm in arm in order to square dance and they had to rub elbows and that was just wrong! 

We were trying so hard not to bust a gut - but it was very difficult!  We managed to explain to him that what the kids were doing at the middle school was definately wrong, but not all dancing was bad.  We let him know he could trust his teacher and that any dance she taught him would be ok.

He said "Well, ok - but after this I am NEVER square dancing again!"

How do we hold on to their innocence?!  This is the part of parenting  I absolutely LOVE!
